Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is preparing temporary office facilities following the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 40 of 2026, which establishes seven new District Prosecutors’ Offices (Kejaksaan Negeri/Kejari) across the country. The move is intended to ensure the newly created offices can begin carrying out their duties while permanent infrastructure is developed.
Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, said the institution has started implementing follow-up measures to support the operational readiness of the new offices. These include arranging temporary office spaces and other essential facilities so prosecutorial services can commence without unnecessary delays.
In addition to preparing temporary infrastructure, the AGO will soon appoint structural officials and personnel who will be assigned to the seven newly established district prosecutors’ offices.
According to Anang, the construction of permanent office buildings and the transition to full operational status will be carried out gradually. The timeline will depend on infrastructure readiness, organizational requirements, as well as the government’s planning and budgeting mechanisms.
Strengthening Regional Law Enforcement
The establishment of the new district prosecutors’ offices is part of the government’s effort to strengthen institutional capacity in regions that now have their own local administrations and require dedicated prosecutorial services.
The AGO said the presence of district prosecutors’ offices is an essential component of Indonesia’s criminal justice system, ensuring that legal services and law enforcement are more accessible and effective at the regional level.
The expansion is also expected to improve public access to justice by bringing prosecutorial services closer to local communities while enhancing the efficiency of legal proceedings.
Supporting Local Governance
Anang added that the new offices will also strengthen the role of the Attorney General’s Office within the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), enabling prosecutors to better support local governments in accordance with their legal duties, functions, and authority.
The initiative is expected to improve coordination among regional institutions involved in governance, public security, and law enforcement.
Seven New District Prosecutors’ Offices Established
President Prabowo Subianto officially signed Presidential Regulation No. 40 of 2026, authorizing the creation of seven new district prosecutors’ offices in different regions of Indonesia.
The newly established offices are:
- Pangandaran District Prosecutor’s Office – Pangandaran Regency, West Java
- Serang Regency District Prosecutor’s Office – Serang Regency, Banten
- Tana Tidung District Prosecutor’s Office – Tana Tidung Regency, North Kalimantan
- Kubu Raya District Prosecutor’s Office – Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan
- Lima Puluh Kota District Prosecutor’s Office – Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra
- Raja Ampat District Prosecutor’s Office – Raja Ampat Regency, Southwest Papua
- Pesisir Barat District Prosecutor’s Office – Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung
The regulation also specifies the official headquarters for each office, with locations in Parigi, Ciruas, Tideng Pale, Sungai Raya, Harau, Waisai, and Krui, respectively.
The AGO said preparations will continue in stages to ensure each new office becomes fully operational while supporting improved legal services and stronger law enforcement across Indonesia.
