PT BRI Asuransi Indonesia, also known as BRI Insurance, said insurance protection can help people manage the financial risks caused by natural disasters. Such coverage is considered important because disasters such as floods and earthquakes can result in significant losses and require substantial recovery costs.
BRI Insurance President Director Budi Legowo said people should consider insurance protection as part of their efforts to anticipate the financial impact of unexpected disasters. According to him, disaster risks cannot be predicted with certainty in terms of when or where they will occur.
“Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere, which is why having insurance is one of the most important ways to protect ourselves,” Budi said in a statement received in Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday.
In addition to its business activities, BRI Insurance is also involved in disaster response through its Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) program. The company distributed emergency food packages to residents affected by flash floods in Jorong Kayu Aro, Gunung Talang District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra.
Budi said the assistance was part of the company’s commitment to contributing to sustainable economic development while providing direct benefits to communities and the environment.
He expressed hope that the assistance would help residents meet their immediate needs following the disaster and support the recovery of affected communities.
BRI Insurance West Sumatra representative Tulus Wibowo said the company was deeply concerned about the flash floods in the area. He said the social assistance was provided as a demonstration of the company’s concern for communities facing difficult circumstances.
Tulus also expressed hope that the assistance would help ease some of the burden on residents while supporting post-disaster recovery efforts in Solok Regency.
Through social initiatives and education about risk protection, BRI Insurance is emphasizing the importance of disaster preparedness, both through social support and financial instruments that can help reduce economic pressure after losses occur.
