PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 5 Purwokerto provided free healthcare services through the Rail Clinic program at Bumiayu Station, Brebes Regency, Central Java. The program was aimed at 250 residents as an effort to help the community access medical examinations and treatment.

Head of KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto Rangga Putra Maulana said the activity was part of a series of events commemorating KAI’s 81st anniversary, which falls on September 28. The program also reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the health of communities around its operational areas.

“Through Rail Clinic, we want to provide healthcare services, education, and social assistance that can be directly experienced by residents around KAI’s operational areas,” Rangga said at Bumiayu Station on Wednesday.

The healthcare services were carried out through collaboration between KAI, the Brebes Regency Health Office, and Bumiayu Community Health Center. Residents were able to access several medical examination services as part of the program.

The available services included Free Health Checkups (CKG), general medical consultations, Obstetrics and Gynecology (Obgyn), Maternal and Child Health (KIA), dental and eye examinations, as well as basic laboratory tests. Laboratory examinations included blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol checks. Residents who required medication also received medicines based on their examination results.

Rail Clinic was also equipped with a Rail Library, providing both physical and digital books. The facility was used for literacy activities as well as educational outreach for the community.

Rangga explained that the initial target group consisted of residents living around Bumiayu Station who had previously been registered through coordination with subdistrict, village, neighborhood association, and community unit authorities. Although the quota was set at 250 people, residents outside the list could still receive services if time and capacity allowed.

In addition to healthcare services, KAI distributed school bags, stationery, vitamins, and 30 pairs of glasses to students from SDN Dukuhturi 4, SDN Dukuhturi 7, and MI Muhammadiyah Dukuhturi.

Through its Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ), KAI also provided educational toys to TK Aisyiyah Dukuhturi, wheelchairs to Bumiayu Community Health Center and Aisyiyah Bumiayu Clinic, as well as glasses for elderly residents.

Head of the Brebes Regency Health Office Heru Padmonobo appreciated the program, saying it provided direct benefits to the community. One resident, 57-year-old Supriyatin, also said the free medical examination and medication helped address the health complaints she was experiencing.
