GDAN Post Built in Ponton, Central Kalimantan Police Chief: Drug Trafficking Operators Remain Massive, Perpetrators Are Undeterred

Efforts to eradicate narcotics in Central Kalimantan continue to be strengthened through the construction of the Dayak Anti-Drug Movement (GDAN) Post in the Ponton area. This step is being taken as part of the synergy between security forces and the community to suppress drug trafficking, which remains a serious issue in the region.
The Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief emphasized that drug trafficking activities to this day are still taking place on a massive scale. According to him, various enforcement actions carried out by the authorities have not fully halted the activities of perpetrators who continue to find ways to operate illicit narcotics distribution networks.
He assessed that the recurring involvement of perpetrators in similar cases demonstrates that a deterrent effect has not been fully achieved. Therefore, the law enforcement approach needs to be paired with preventive steps and education involving all elements of society.
The GDAN Post is expected to serve as a coordination hub as well as an educational facility for residents to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The presence of the post also stands as a symbol of shared commitment in combating illicit narcotics trafficking down to the community level.
Social observers note that the involvement of local communities plays a vital role in detecting and preventing drug trafficking, particularly in areas with relatively high economic activity and population mobility.
In addition to taking enforcement actions against perpetrators, the authorities also continue to push for prevention efforts through socialization, youth guidance, and strengthening family resilience as the first line of defense against narcotics abuse.
Local governments and various community organizations are expected to continue supporting the anti-drug movement through sustainable educational programs that reach different layers of society.
The Police Chief asserted that the eradication of drugs cannot be accomplished solely by law enforcement officials, but instead requires the active participation of the entire community to create a safe and healthy environment.
With the establishment of the GDAN Post in the Ponton area, it is hoped that prevention and monitoring efforts against drug trafficking will become increasingly effective, thereby strengthening the collective movement to protect the community from the threat of narcotics.
