SPMB 2026 East Java Provides Golden Ticket for Student Council Presidents and Al-Qur’an Memorizers

The East Java Provincial Government is introducing a new policy for the 2026 Student Admission Selection (SPMB) by providing a special pathway or “golden ticket” for student council presidents and Al-Qur’an memorizers (hafiz).
This policy is described as a form of appreciation for students who possess leadership achievements as well as capabilities in the religious field.
The golden ticket program is expected to offer greater opportunities for high-achieving students to continue their education at favorite public schools in East Java.
Education observers assess that this policy can encourage students to be more active in school organizational activities and increase the younger generation’s interest in religious education.
In addition to academic achievement, local governments are beginning to pay attention to character development, leadership, and moral values of students within the educational selection process.
This special pathway is also viewed as a form of recognition for students who have made positive contributions to their school environments and communities.
Nevertheless, several observers emphasize the importance of transparency and clear selection mechanisms to ensure the policy runs fairly and reaches the right targets.
The East Java Provincial Government stated that the technical regulations regarding the requirements and selection process for the golden ticket will be announced further ahead of the SPMB 2026 implementation.
New student admission programs across various regions indeed continue to undergo adjustments to create a more inclusive selection system and to foster the comprehensive development of student potential.
With the existence of this golden ticket pathway, the government hopes to nurture more young generations who excel academically, possess a leadership spirit, and have a strong character.
