Trade Ministry Predicts Minyakita DMO to Rise as CPO Exports Increase - RakyatPost.co

The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) expects the volume of Minyakita’s domestic market obligation (DMO) to increase in September 2026 compared with previous months. The projection is in line with rising export activity for crude palm oil (CPO).

Secretary of the Directorate General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade Bambang Wisnubroto said Minyakita DMO realization had reached 106,003 tons as of September. According to him, the volume could still increase through the end of September as CPO exports continue to show an upward trend.

The increase in DMO is one of the government’s measures to ensure that Minyakita supplies remain available in the domestic market as CPO exports rise. The government is also working to maintain distribution so that increased palm oil trading activity does not affect the price stability of subsidized cooking oil for the public.

In addition to strengthening DMO fulfillment, the Ministry of Trade is paying particular attention to Minyakita distribution in eastern Indonesia. Several regions are still recording prices above the highest retail price (HET), requiring additional distribution to keep the commodity affordable for consumers.

Several provinces where Minyakita prices have been recorded at more than 5 percent above the HET include Southwest Papua, Papua, Maluku, South Papua, North Maluku, West Papua, Central Papua, and Highland Papua.

The Ministry of Trade has also asked state-owned food companies, particularly Perum Bulog and ID FOOD, to maintain continuous Minyakita distribution through traditional markets. Strengthening distribution is part of the government’s preparations for the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year period.

According to Ministry of Trade data, Minyakita stocks held by state-owned food companies reached 523,577 tons, or around 48.55 percent. Bulog held approximately 370,854 tons, equivalent to 34.38 percent, while ID FOOD held around 152,723 tons.

Of the stock held by Bulog, 82.26 percent had already been distributed to markets. With larger stocks available, the Ministry of Trade is encouraging Bulog to continue mobilizing Minyakita supplies to eastern Indonesian regions where prices remain above the HET.

The government expects stronger DMO fulfillment and interregional distribution to help maintain supplies and ease pressure on Minyakita prices ahead of increased consumer demand at the end of the year.
